Short circuit on the plans to build a semi-displacement cruiser: I found a listing for an already built stitch-n-glue 25′ Pilot House boat at a price that was too good to pass up; much less the 1500-2000hrs of effort to build one. Maybe when I retire.
The boat is a DownEast 25, designed by Jacques Mertens of Bateau.com . A basic description of the boat can be found here: http://bateau.com/studyplans/DE25Cockpit_study.php?prod=DE25Cockpit
This sample was built nearly to the standard design by a gentleman in North Carolina. It is powered by a 140 Suzuki 4 stroke mounted on a 30″ Armstrong bracket.
